Nishat Khan

Following a highly successful appearance at the BBC Proms Festival in 2013 when his acclaimed sitar concerto “Gate of the Moon” was premiered we now have a rare chance to listen to a solo performance in London by one of India’s finest musicians  - USTAD NISHAT KHAN – virtuoso sitar player and leading light of one of the most famous music families in the North Indian classical tradition. His father is Ustad Imrat Khan and his uncle is the late Ustad  Vilayat Khan – it is no wonder that Nishat has been dazzling audiences with his phenomenal technique and  beautiful aesthetic sense all over the world. Nishat has performed and worked with a diversity of legends including John McLaughlin – Philip Glass – Paco Pena – Evelyn Glennie and also composed for films.

Shahbaz Hussain

Nishat is accompanied on tabla by SHAHBAZ HUSSAIN who has emerged as one of the most promising and exciting tabla players of his generation. Trained by his father Ustad Mumtaz Hussain and then by Ustad Faiyaz Khan of the Delhi gharana, Ustad Shaukat Hussain of the Punjab gharana and finally by the legendary maestro Ustad Allah Rakha – Shahbaz is much in demand to perform in both traditional as well as contemporary contexts internationally.
